THIS year will be the ‘best ever’ for Scottish tech, according to the organisers of Engage Invest Exploit (EIE), the largest investor showcase of its kind. Sixty early stage companies will pitch for funding at the flagship Edinburgh event on 12 May. They include online booking software specialist Appointedd and life sciences start-up Snap40. Around half of those pitching at last year’s event have since secured funding, raising an average investment of £560,000. EIE is organised by Edinburgh-based Informatics Ventures, a Scotland-wide programme to foster entrepreneurship in early stage companies. Previous pitchers at EIE, which also runs an event in London, include FanDuel, Celtic Renewables and Mallzee.
