THE founder of Glasgow brewer WEST has declared that recent multi-million-pound investment in increased capacity and a wedding venue underlines ambitions to take the business “much further” in its second decade.

Petra Wetzel noted that WEST was celebrating its 10th anniversary today with the opening of a new brewery and wedding venue.

The new brewery on WEST’s site at the Templeton building beside Glasgow Green multiplies production capacity ten-fold, the company declared.

WEST added that the £5 million investment in the new brewery had created half-a-dozen jobs and would enable it to bottle its range of niche beers, such as Hefeweizen and Munich Red.

It meanwhile described the £1m Courtyard wedding venue as “an inspired space that incorporates the industrial grandeur of a full-production brewery with the style and finesse of a premier events suite”. The venue seats 140 for dinner, or can accommodate 220 for a standing reception.

Ms Wetzel said: “We’re celebrating our first decade with the opening of new facilities that show the scale of our ambitions to take WEST much further in our second decade.”

She added: “Designed in order to allow us to keep pace with growth in market demand for our products, our new brewery will ensure that more customers than ever before will be able to enjoy the unique taste of our product range.”
