Changing faces in KPMG’s senior Scottish management team
A NUMBER of changes have been made to KPMG’s senior leadership team in Scotland.
Following Blair Nimmo’s appointment as head of restructuring for the UK, Catherine Burnet has been named senior partner for the firm’s Edinburgh office, having been with the firm for 21 years.
Martin Findlay, head of tax in Aberdeen, becomes senior partner for the Aberdeen office following Duncan MacAskill’s retirement after a 35-year career with the firm.
The Scottish tax team has been strengthened with the promotion of Alan Turner to partner, while Colin Williamson, head of KPMG’s tax centre of excellence in Glasgow, will become responsible for the client team in the firm’s growing UK-wide Small Business Accounting practice, also based in Glasgow. Andy Myers, who recently joined from Morgan Stanley, will lead the Tax Centre of Excellence.
Craig Anderson, senior partner for KPMG in Scotland, said the changes strengthen the firm’s offering to Scottish businesses and organisations. “By continually investing in our business we are illustrating our confidence in Scotland’s economy and our drive to deliver client-focused results,” he said.
KPMG staff numbers in Scotland are at 860, including 240 in its UK centre of tax excellence and UK-wide small business accounting teams, both based in Glasgow.
Head of Agency appointed at Graham and Sibbald
CHARTERED surveyor Graham and Sibbald has promoted Scott Grindlay to head of agency in Glasgow.
Among Mr Grindlay’s instructions is one of Glasgow’s most iconic structures, the former Odeon cinema complex on Renfield Street. He will also over-see the City Property contract.
Mr Grindlay will manage a team of four who are dealing with landlords and tenants in all sectors across the city and the surrounding area.
The Agency team has also been bolstered by the recruitment of Andrew Brass, who has joined as a commercial surveyor from Neil Munro Property Consultancy. Prior to that he spent two and half years at FG Burnett.
Mr Grindlay, whose promotion from Senior Surveyor came after just 18 months with Graham and Sibbald, said: “I’m delighted Andrew will work alongside me on all aspects of agency and investment.
“It is great to have him on board and I'm confident he will help us grow and develop the G+S brand.”
Calum Campbell, head of the Glasgow office added: "I'm excited to see the direction the agency department will go with Scott and Andrew driving it forward."
Promotions push at BTO
THREE new partners have been announced at independent law firm BTO Solicitors along with a number of further promotions.
David Young of the firm’s commercial litigation team, Scott Wyper of its corporate team and Claire White of BTO’s personal injury team have all been promoted to partners.
Ross Brown of the private client team, servicing individuals and their families, Cara Docherty of the professional discipline & clinical defence team and Michael Collins of the insurers’ representation team have all been appointed as associates. The firm has also appointed Nicola McCluskie as an associate in its real estate team.
BTO’s chairman, Alan Borthwick, commented: “The latest series of promotions is a strong reflection of the focus and enthusiasm at the centre of the firm, and clearly demonstrates the vast range of expertise that ensures our ongoing success.”
