Waldman gets ultimate job
RICHARD Waldman, who joined funding firm Ultimate Finance to set up its Scottish operations, has been promoted to group sales director.
Mr Waldman’s role was widened in the latter part of 2015 to northern sales director looking after the new business teams in Glasgow, Manchester and Leeds.
Commenting on his promotion, he said: “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead and continue to grow the team at Ultimate. We have an impressive track record and I am keen to build further on the good work achieved by the team to ensure we remain the provider of choice for SMEs.
“We’ve a real desire to work closely with our introducers to ensure that we can provide a high level of support to our clients.”
Mr Waldman started his career with Royal Bank of Scotland and, ten years later, left to set up Cattles Invoice Finance in Scotland.
He was pivotal in taking it from a start-up business to over 120 clients, as well as overseeing the transition of the business into challenger bank Aldermore.
Livingstone has eureka moment
BUSINESS systems supplier Eureka Solutions has appointed Gillian Livingstone as managing director. She replaces Alistair Livingstone, who has been named non-executive chairman
The company has also named two new directors: Aileen Primrose becomes sales and marketing director and David Lindores becomes technical director.
Ms Livingstone, Ms Primrose and Mr Lindores now form the executive leadership team and are responsible for the day to day activities of the business.
Eureka was launched in 2004 and now has 45 staff who manage more than 1,600 customer support contracts. Last year the business reported revenues of £3 million.
“It is time the management structure reflected the growth of the business and it is also appropriate for its future growth and direction,” said Mr Livingstone.
Mr Livingstone said: “The team tasked with managing the business has over 25 years’ experience in the business so this is not a dramatic change, it is simply bringing clarity and focus to the future management of the business.”
Law firm hires first chief operating officer
PINSENT Masons has appointed its firm's first external board member and its first Chief Operating Officer.
Chartered accountant Alastair Mitchell joins as chief operating officer from Holman Fenwick Willam, where he held the same position. He will also sit on the firm's operations committee.
Pauline Egan joins the firm's global board as a non-executive member, combining the role with a non-executive appointment at the UK subsidiary of Allied Irish Bank and the Governorship of Morley College.
Pinsent Mason said the appointments continued the process of modernising the firm's leadership structures to ensure the business remains agile and responsive to client needs following a period of sustained growth.
These moves follow the appointment of 18 individuals to partner in the firm's latest promotion round, which takes effect from May 1.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
