ABERDEEN construction firm Chap Group has bolstered its senior team with the appointment of a new finance director and land manager.

Shona Gee joins as finance director, moving from the energy sector and bringing 25 years of experience in both the private and public sector.

Michael Thomson has been named land manager for the Chap Homes division. As a chartered surveyor, his background also includes private and public sector roles in property consultancy and planning.

The Westhill-based business, which has 190 employees and posted revenue of £36 million last year, said the appointments would help it build for the future.

New position created at Buccleuch Property

BUCCLEUCH Property has appointed Paul Jarvis to the newly created role of asset manager director. His role will focus on developing Buccleuch Property’s asset management capability in the UK.

With nearly 25 years’ experience in the industry, Mr Jarvis will focus on running Buccleuch Property’s asset management mandate for the £100m Mountcity Group portfolio in South Yorkshire and the Midlands, as well as sourcing new opportunities.

He joins Buccleuch from Bellthorn Property and comes with a track record of providing asset and property management advice including responsibility for the strategic review of £700m of UK property assets at Kenmore Property Group. He has been a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors since 1995.

Mercer’s Retirement business boosted with Glasgow appointment

HEALTH and wealth consultant Mercer has appointed former Standard Life director Peter Kane as a principal in its Glasgow office. Mr Kane will primarily support the growth of Mercer’s retirement business in Scotland and Northern Ireland, enhancing its UK wide growth activities.

Jason Kenny, partner and UK growth leader for the UK retirement business, said Mr Kane was a “great fit” for Mercer. “Although he will primarily support our retirement business in Scotland and Northern Ireland, I am confident that his broader consulting experiences will bring a real boost to our UK wide growth strategy,” he said.

Prior to joining Mercer, Mr Kane was corporate relationships director at Standard Life where he headed up a new business team that focus on large UK employers. Earlier in his career Mr Kane worked at Hymans Robertson as a partner and new business director.
