UNIVERSITY of Glasgow graduate Susanne Mitschke has been selected for the final round of the Converge Challenge scheme for entrepreneurs for her work running MindMate, which has developed an app for people with dementia. Six early stage businesses connected with Scottish universities have made the final short-list for awards. Glasgow universities are represented by two businesses. Three of the short-listed firms are linked with universities in Edinburgh, with one from Dundee. A total of 212 businesses applied, up 14 per cent on last year. Competition winners will be selected on 22 September by a panel of judges made up of industry experts, entrepreneurs and investors. Mervyn Jones, chairman of Converge Challenge and a member of the judging panel, said: “All finalists should be commended as this year’s competition has been the highest standard to date … the strength of the business plans at this stage revealed that many of the projects are close to market.”
