Three appointments at top hotel
THE new owner of Gleneagles has made three key appointments to carry out its multi-million pound investment and development programme across the hotel.
Ennismore has appointed Conor O’Leary, pictured – formerly director of food & beverage at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai – to the role of hotel manager, with responsibility for all food and beverage operations across the hotel and estate. He is joined by Warren Brown, who has taken up the post of Gleneagles’ executive chef, following roles as executive chef at the Hilton Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, at the Shangri-La in Manila and at the St Regis, Shanghai.
The trio of new senior appointments is completed by Colin Farndon – previously spa director at Armathwaite Hall Country House Hotel & Spa, Cumbria – who has taken up the new position of Gleneagles’ Director of Leisure.
“Conor, Warren and Colin bring with them an outstanding range of skills and valued experience in the industry, which will help us advance our ambitious vision for enhancing the Gleneagles offering and the guest experience,” said Paul Heery, Gleneagles’ general manager.
Board of recruiter expands
RECRUITMENT business the Livingston James Group has appointed Karen Scott, former managing director of Hudson UK and Ireland, to its board.
Ms Scott comes to the Glagsow-based firm as a former European and global human resources director with Polaroid. She joined the Nasdaq-listed Hudson in 2005, where she ran the Scottish, Ireland and international operation before being appointed as UK and Ireland managing director in 2012.
Commenting on the appointment, Jamie Livingston, one of the Hudson UK’s founding directors, said: “The appointment of Karen Scott to our board is as a real coup for the Group. Karen brings a wealth of skills and experience to the senior leadership team and is joining to lead the growth of our brands in Scotland, with near-term plans for expansion into key regional centres across the UK.”
Established in 2010 by Jamie Livingston and Andy Rogerson, the Livingston James Group has grown to 36 people between offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh with turnover for 2016 forecast at £6 million.
Brewer names new director
DUNDEE craft beer firm 71 Brewing has appoint Mark Fowlestone to its board as a non-executive director.
Mr Fowlestone is one of the founding partners of Edinburgh and London creative agency Multiply. This is his first non-executive position.
Head brewer at 71 Brewing, Duncan Alexander, tipped Mr Fowlestone for the position on the strength of his drinks credentials and experience in branding and integrated marketing communications. Mr Alexander said: “Mark came to my attention from a number of trusted sources because of not just what he and his team have achieved at Multiply over
the last ten years but also because he’s been at the coalface of drinks new product development.”
71 Brewing was required to appoint a non-executive director under the terms of its £650,000 funding agreement with Scottish Enterprise.
