String of promotions at Shepherd

FOLLOWING the recent merger between Hardies Property & Construction Consultants and Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, the expanded group has appointed nine new partners across its commercial and residential surveying departments.
Shepherd’s commercial property office in Edinburgh is enhanced by the promotion to partner of Anthony Bennett and Colin Campbell, who heads up the commercial property management department.
Residential surveyors Stuart Dunne, Christopher Hunter, Andrew Neil and Andrew Sykes are promoted to partners operating in Aberdeen, Stirling, Paisley and Peterhead respectively. And as a consequence of the realignment of Hardies following the merger, its entire valuation department has transferred to Shepherd, resulting in the appointment of three new residential partners in Neil Moir, Paul Duncan and Keith Gifford in Aberdeen, Fife and Dalkeith, where a new office has opened.
George Brewster, senior partner, said: “[These] well-deserved promotions have been made in recognition of the tremendous contribution each has made.”

Tax partner for 150 year-old firm

AS Alexander Sloan accountants approaches its 150th anniversary, the firm has appointed Carole Connor as a tax partner.
Ms Connor's arrival comes at the start of year in which Alexander Sloan will mark the major milestone as one of Scotland’s longest established firms of accountants and business advisers. 
A mathematics graduate of the University of Glasgow and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ms Connor will lead the firm’s tax department which is spread across its Glasgow and Edinburgh practices.
She said: “I am excited to be joining the partnership of such a long-established and highly respected firm as Alexander Sloan just as it marks 150 years of serving Scotland’s business community. I expect to be kept busy providing each and every one of them with the best possible taxation advice.”

Double hire for Black & Lizars

OPTOMETRIST chain Black & Lizars has made two senior staff appointments as part of what it called a long-term programme to enhance its standards of clinical care.
Kathryn Littlewood from Manchester has joined as human resources (HR) manager and Nisith ‘Nish’ Nathwani, from Gourock, has been appointed commercial manager.
Mr Nathwani worked for Well, previously Co-op Pharmacy, for more than five years as development manager and portfolio manager.
Black & Lizars managing director, Michelle Le Prevost, said: “We welcome two such high-quality individuals as Kathryn and Nish to the Black & Lizars’ family and look forward to seeing them making a significant contribution to our patient care proposition.”
Black & Lizars has 24 practices across Scotland and one in Belfast and recently celebrated its 185th anniversary.
