Scotland boost for housebuilder

RETIREMENT housebuilder McCarthy & Stone has appointed Jonathan Fair as its new managing director and Lorraine Paterson as sales and marketing director for its Scottish office.
Mr Fair was managing director for Central Scotland at Stewart Milne Homes since 2012, having previously served as chief executive at Homes for Scotland for almost five years. 
Based in Glasgow, he will take full responsibility the growth programme in Scotland, including managing its share of McCarthy & Stone’s £2.5 billion investment in land and build over the four years to 2019. 
Ms Paterson had been sales & marketing director Stewart Milne Homes in Central Scotland since 2014 and and has similar experience from a wide variety of residential, mixed-use and commercial developments. 
Clive Fenton, McCarthy & Stone’s chief executive officer, said: “We are delighted to welcome both Jonathan and Lorraine to McCarthy & Stone. Jonathan is one of the industry’s most experienced housebuilders and will help us deliver our strategic objective of doubling in size by 2019 to meet the unprecedented demand for retirement housing in Scotland.”

Firecrest gets busy after deal

GLASGOW-based independent video company Firecrest Films has wasted no time in expanding its workforce following last week’s investment by the Channel 4 Indie Growth Fund.
Iain Scollay and Mark Roberts are joining as joint creative directors with a remit to to grow the indie and expand into new genres with programming for a wider range of broadcasters. 
The pair have worked closely together for three years in their previous roles at production company Mentorn, including jointly executive-producing Channel 4’s The Jihadis Next Door.
Firecrest managing director Nicole Kleeman said that the Channel 4's investment would allow her to make a number of senior appointments and expand the range of genres in which Firecrest operates.
She added: “Iain and Mark are two executives with formidable reputations both in terms of programme-making and in their creative vision. To have them directing the growth of Firecrest Films is a privilege and myself and the team here are looking forward to expanding into new territory.” 

Morisons makes triple hire

MORISONS Solicitors has made three appointments to its Edinburgh and Glasgow offices.
Former Anderson Strathern solicitor and financial adviser Angela McMahon joins the private client team as an associate and has extensive experience in providing advice to individuals and their families in relation to the protection of assets, including, wills, trusts and estate planning. . 
Based in Edinburgh, Janette Kenny joins the property team as an associate, and is a specialist in conveyancing. She is also a member of the Edinburgh Conveyancers Forum.
Emma Berwick, meanwhile, has been appointed as marketing executive.
