Aberdeen Asset Management has poached seasoned Baillie Gifford manager Mike Brooks to strengthen its Diversified Growth investment team.

He will work as co-lead alongside Mike Turner, Aberdeen's head of global strategy and asset allocation.

Mr Brooks was co-founder of the Baillie Gifford Diversified Growth Fund, but was not one of the firm's 40 partners. He and colleague Patrick Edwardson were ranked 80 and 81 among managers working for Scots houses in the latest Citywire performance table (see page 23). Aberdeen said its acquisition of SWIP meant it now had over 60 investment staff managing £85bn in multi-asset portfolios.

Baillie Gifford said Mr Brooks was "one of the investment managers" for the fund which would continue to be managed by Mr Edwardson, James Squires and David McIntyre. Overall resources would be "reviewed in due course".
