Brian McBride, the Scottish businessman who ran Amazon's UK operations for five years, will become chairman of the Asos online fashion retailing business next month on a six-figure remuneration package.
Glasgow-born Mr McBride has been appointed to succeed Lord Waheed Alli when he steps down on November 1 after 12 years with the company. The Labour peer played a key role in the development of Asos into one of the country's most successful online retailers.
