STV chairman Baroness Margaret Ford has been confirmed as the permanent chairman of housebuilder Grainger.

Baroness Ford, 56, was the senior independent director at the business and is stepping up after Ian Coull was unable to take up the post following medical advice. She had been filling the role since early February.

Grainger also said chief executive Andrew Cunningham plans to retire following the company's annual general meeting in February next year.

Baroness Ford said: "Whilst of course we will be sorry to see Andrew go, we are left with ample time to look for his future successor and ensure an orderly handover."
