Centrica in talks with target

BRITISH Gas owner Centrica has confirmed it is in talks with Iain Conn over whether he will succeed outgoing chief executive Sam Laidlaw.

Yesterday Mr Conn announced he was leaving his role at BP where he is downstream managing director in charge of the chemicals and refining businesses.

He also intends to step down from the oil giant's board by the end of the year. Mr Conn has spent 29 years at BP.
