Cleaves steps in at council

VETERAN banker Maurice Cleaves has been named interim chief executive of the Payments Council, the body responsible for ensuring payment services work for all those using them in the UK.

Mr Cleaves, who will take up the post in November, replaces the outgoing chief executive Adrian Kamellard.
