THE former managing director of ScotRail is making a move back into the transport sector with National Express Group.

Mary Grant, who resigned as chief executive at retailer Phones4U in May, starts as managing director of business development next month.

National Express said her role within the company will initially look at international growth, but focus on UK rail opportunities in 2014.

Ms Grant previously worked with National Express in the UK and Australia in the late 1990s and was also managing director of FirstGroup's UK bus and rail divisions.

Dean Finch, group chief executive at National Express, said: "Having worked with Mary before I know all about her drive, determination and attention to detail.

"She'll be a great asset to the business as we look to expand both within the UK and internationally."
