NUCLEUS, the Edinburgh-based investment platform group, has poached Doug Heron from Adam & Co to be its new chief financial officer.

Mr Heron, who formally joins the business in January, will be responsible for overseeing finance, risk and compliance functions at Nucleus, managing a team of 14, and reporting directly to managing director Stuart Geard.

The Glasgow University graduate was appointed finance director at RBS-owned Adam & Co in 2009, having held senior finance roles in RBS. They included head of finance for its private banking division, and deputy CFO for a partnership business between RBS and Bank of China, which saw him relocate to Beijing between 2005 and 2008. Mr Geard said the firm had been "very impressed by both the quantity and quality of people interested in joining Nucleus for this role".
