JACOB de Tusch-Lec, of funds house Artemis, has held on to top spot in The Herald's latest monthly table of the top-performing asset managers working for Scottish investment houses.

His ranking among asset managers in 35 countries whose performance is measured by Citywire slipped from 84th to 146th when the latest performance figures, for the three years to June 30, were tallied. However, this ranking was comfortably the highest among the Citywire-monitored fund managers working for investment houses with a significant presence in Scotland.

Mr de Tusch-Lec has managed the Artemis Global Income Fund since its launch in July 2010.

He has also, with colleague James Foster, managed the Artemis Monthly Distribution Fund since its launch in May 2012.

Mr de Tusch-Lec's career in investment management began in 1998 at Copenhagen-based BankInvest, one of the largest independent fund managers in Scandinavia, where he was a portfolio manager on the Central and Eastern European/ Russia Equity Unit Trust.

The fund manager, who has also worked for investment bank Merrill Lynch and joined Artemis in 2005, holds a BA and an MSc in economics from the University of Copenhagen and an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University, specialising in international economics and finance.

Artemis notes on its web-site that, during his time at New York University, Mr de Tusch-Lec was a teaching assistant under internationally-acclaimed economist Professor Nouriel Roubini.

Stephen Snowden, of Edinburgh-based fund manager Kames, climbed into second position when the latest Scottish top table was compiled, even though his ranking fell marginally from 216th to 217th.

In joint third place are Sarah Whitley and Matthew Brett, who have regularly headed the Scottish top flight and run the Baillie Gifford Japanese fund.
