Board boosted

SOCIAL Investment Scotland (SIS), the body that provides funding to charities and social enterprises, has made five appointments to its board.

Mark Adderley, Jo Armstrong, Stewart Curruth, Gurjit Singh Lalli and Gerard O'Sullivan bring business, local government, social enterprise and the public sector expertise to the organisation at a time, it says, of heightened interest in social investment.

New chairman Professor Nick Kuenssberg said that focus means SIS has a "great opportunity to increase funds under management and connect more capital with more communities".

Enabling Tom

ENABLE Scotland, the learning disability charity, has appointed a new director of finance and technology.

Tom O'Hara brings both IT and finance experience to the role, having qualified as an accountant and served as managing director of Technology Services Group.

The appointment comes as Enable invests in new technology to ensure its systems are ready for changes in the social care market, including the emergence of Self Directed Support (SDS).

He is the senior independent director and audit chairman of listed oil company Rockhopper Exploration, and a member of the audit and risk committee of the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

One of five new appointments to the IoD board, Mr Walton was finance director and chief financial officer of easyJet from 1999 to 2005, where he successfully directed its initial public offer (IPO).
