New partner for Stronachs

ABERDEEN-based law firm Stronachs has appointed a new partner as it continues to grow in its home city.

Mark Brady, who specialises in banking and finance, has joined the firm's corporate team. He will work closely with corporate partner Neil Forbes.

Stronachs has offices in Inverness and London as well as Aberdeen.

Managing partner David Rennie said: "Following a strong 2014 for the firm, with a string of enviable deals completed, I am delighted that the firm continues to demonstrate its commitment to growth, with Mark being the fifth senior lateral hire of late."

Mr Brady said: "I am delighted to be joining Stronachs. Our strong corporate and energy teams and well-established market presence provide a great platform for an enhanced banking and finance offering. 2015 will be an interesting year, within a changing market which is bound to present opportunities and I believe we are well positioned at the firm to assist our clients to take advantage of these."

Mooney moves to DJ Alexander

ESTATE agent DJ Alexander has appointed David Mooney to the new position of regional manager for the west of Scotland.

David, who has 16 years' experience in estate agency, joins us from Allen & Harris. He will operate from our office and showroom at Bath Street in the heart of Glasgow.

Mr Mooney said last week's changes in Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) means he joins the firm "at a challenging time for the residential property market. However I am confident that 2015 will turn out to be a relatively good year for Glasgow.

"Prices here are comparatively lower than in Edinburgh and therefore less properties will be exposed to the higher tax levels which result from LBTT."

He added: "DJ Alexander is already an established and respected brand in Glasgow and the West of Scotland but I have identified opportunities to build on this which will benefit both the company and our sales and rental clients.

"I am looking forward to meeting established clients and welcoming new ones over the coming months."

New director property firm LSH

PROPERTY firm Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has hired Ewen White as a director in its capital markets team in Glasgow.

The appointment follows the arrival of Andrew Sheills as capital markets director in Edinburgh late last year as LSH continues to invest in Scotland.

The firm said their combined experience and knowledge of the property market will drive the business north of the Border.

Mr White joins from F G Burnett, and over more than 16 years of investment experience has worked with clients such as Credit Suisse, Aberdeen Asset Management, CBRE Global Investors and Hermes.

He recently worked on the sale of 151/155 St Vincent Street in Glasgow to Aberdeen Asset Management for over £20m, on behalf of Hermes, and the purchase of the Wellgate Centre, Dundee for Invista.

Mike Thatcher, regional operations director at LSH said: "We are recruiting some of the brightest, most ambitious property professionals in Scotland at a time when LSH is poised for further growth in the country. Ewen's appointment is the latest example of this approach and will support the provision of high quality services to clients."
