Murray boosts team
JOHNSTON Carmichael has appointed Michael Murray as a capital allowances specialist due to an increasing amount of commercial property work at the accountancy firm.
The chartered surveyor, formerly at Davis Langdon, will be in involved in property acquisitions, large building projects and helping maximise tax relief for clients.
John Todd, partner at Johnston Carmichael, said: "Michael's appointment means we now have an in-house surveyor to add expertise to our capital allowance team, which will allow us to really add value to our clients' commercial property projects.
"We are delighted Michael has joined the firm and are extremely excited about the extended range of services we can now offer."
WSP hires Borduas
WSP, the engineering and environmental consultancy, has recruited Ginette Borduas as a senior technical director within its environment and energy division.
Ms Borduas, one of WSP's Canadian colleagues, will be based at the firm's Edinburgh office, where she is expected to make a telling contribution to delivering environmental and social impact assessments for the environmental planning team.
Ms Borduas brings to the role more than 24 years' experience in environmental sectors and major infrastructure projects, including hydroelectric power stations, high-voltage transmission lines and railway and road networks across Canada, Africa, South America and the Caribbean.
Business director
WEBHELP TSC, the call-centre specialist owned by the Webhelp Group, has a new director of business intelligence and insight.
Chris Bryson, who will be based at the company's Central Business Park site at Larbert, Falkirk, joins from RBS Retail.
With 18 years' experience in financial services, he specialises in analysing business processes, customer behaviour and credit risk. He previously worked for Bank of Scotland, Intelligent Finance and Sainsbury's Bank.
Webhelp TSC was created earlier this year following the acquisition of HEROtsc by French firm Webhelp Group.
Mr Bryson said: "It is a fantastic time to be joining the Webhelp Group at a time of continued growth following the recent acquisition of the UK business.
"With a growing range of communication channels, and an increasing breadth of data available for analysis, my role will be to help clients make sense of their data to take pragmatic, customer-focused decisions."
Doctor Opus
SPECIALIST oil firm Opus, whose solutions enhance the efficiency of oil and gas production facilities, has appointed Dr Kirit Wadhia as a principal environmental consultant.
Dr Wadhia, latterly ecotoxicology services manager at microbiology and chemical analysis company NCIMB, will split his time between his home in Sheffield and Opus's testing and development facilities in Flotta, Orkney.
Surrey-based Opus specialises in treatments for oil separation and produced water that is a by-product of petroleum production.
CIMA hire
EDINBURGH-based management accountant Myriam Madden has been appointed vice-president of the Chartered Institute of Management Consultants (CIMA).
Ms Madden is director of finance for Historic Scotland, where her responsibilities include corporate planning, financial management, enterprise development and procurement.
She said: "I am delighted to be elected as vice-president of CIMA. It is a great honour and I look forward to further building on the institute's success both in Scotland across the globe."
