Duo join Clark board

TWO new directors have joined the board of Clark Contracts, the construction, refurbishment and maintenance firm. Making the step up are Gerry Cummins, top, manager of Clark's small works division and Michael Scanlan, bottom, who runs the company's construction west division.

Mr Cummins joined in 2004 as an assistant quantity surveyor, progressing through a number of positions. In his current role, which he assumed in 2010, he delivers more than 50 projects a year, each valued up to £500,000.

Mr Scanlan joined in 2006 as a Quantity Surveyor and has also come up through the ranks. He began managing the Construction West division, which turns over £20 million, in 2011.

Steve Clark, executive chairman and founder of Clark Contracts, said: "These appointments reflect the hard work, talent, commitment and success both Gerry and Michael have displayed since they joined the company and now they are bringing all of those attributes to strengthen our existing board."

Attorneys promoted

INTELLECTUAL property firm Marks & Clerk has promoted two of its attorneys to partner.

The promotions have gone to Glasgow-based Richard Gibbs, pictured, and Aimee Cawley, who operates in Manchester. Both are UK and European patent attorneys.

Mr Gibbs specialises in the biotechnology and other life sciences. He joined the firm in 2003, after a period as both a research scientist and a university lecturer.

Bob Naismith, Marks & Clerk's Glasgow-based UK managing partner, said: "It is a great pleasure to welcome Aimee and Richard to the partnership. As highly skilled patent attorneys and commercial advisors to their clients, I have very much enjoyed working with them over the past years and look forward to continuing to do so in the years to come."

Mr Gibbs said: "I am delighted to have been given this opportunity and I am very much looking forward to supporting the continued development of our chemistry and life sciences team here in Glasgow."

A family welcome

GRAHAM'S The Family Dairy has appointed Olivia Slater as account controller.

Ms Slater joins the company as it grows its sales force to explore distribution opportunities across the UK.

Bringing 18 years' retail sales experience to the role, Graham's said her appointment would help it develop and grow client relationships across all channels and develop brand awareness and loyalty.

Managing director Robert Graham said: "Olivia comes to Graham's with great experience and a proven track record. "We believe she will strengthen our sales team and drive the business forward."

Ms Slater said: "Graham's is a fantastic brand with great provenance. I am delighted to join the company at this key time and look forward to developing the client relationships further to grow sales."

Graduates snapped up

DM Hall has appointed two graduate surveyors who will take up roles in its Glasgow and Edinburgh offices.

Kenneth Geddes, top, and Omar Khan, bottom, who both graduated in property management and valuation from Glasgow Caledonian University, have joined the chartered surveyors' residential teams in the west and east of the country.

Mr Geddes said: "I am assisting the residential surveyors on home reports and other residential surveys, gaining practical experience across a range of skills, from identifying housing defects through to learning more about the valuation process."

Mr Khan said: "A significant part of my training at university was on the commercial side, but this role has allowed me to focus more on residential properties and this has really caught my interest. By working with the residential partners, I am able to develop a wide range of skills."
