Clacher is RBS director

ROYAL Bank of Scotland has appointed Gary Clacher, pictured, to regional director for corporate and institutional banking for Aberdeen and the north of Scotland.

Mr Clacher will manage a team of corporate bankers focused on businesses which turn over more than £25 million, or where the business is backed by a private equity house.

The Aberdeen-based executive has more than 26 years' banking experience. He has worked in corporate banking in the city since 1994, having joined RBS in 2005 and becoming its corporate relationship director a year later.

Mr Clacher said: "We have a highly professional and very experienced team in our Aberdeen office, and we have plans to expand staff numbers due to the strong demand we are seeing for our services.

"The local economy is buoyant and I look forward to working with our existing clients and also prospective clients who are looking for an experienced banking partner to help them grow and succeed."

Cushman recruits again

PROPERTY firm Cushman & Wakefield has expanded its retail and office team in Glasgow by appointing graduate surveyor Victoria Campbell, pictured.

Ms Campbell, who studied in Newcastle and Glasgow, spent a year with town planning and urban design consultancy David Lock Associates in Milton Keynes.

Her appointment comes after Noemi Van Aken and Kate Bruce joined the property and asset management team at Cushman & Wakefield's Glasgow office.

The firm's managing director in Scotland, David Davidson, said: "Thanks to new account wins across the board, we are in the very fortunate position of being able to recruit new staff members. Victoria is a terrific addition to the team and I am sure she will be kept very busy."

MLM adds director

INSOLVENCY practice MLM Solutions has hired former BDO director Nikki Williams as associate director.

Ms Williams brings more than 25 years of experience in business recovery and insolvency to the role, having worked in the corporate recovery division at PKF before her role as director of business restructuring at BDO.

Her arrival at MLM follows the recruitment of Barry Mochan from Grant Thornton and Calum Leslie from Ernst & Young.

Ms Williams, who joins founding directors Maureen Leslie and Antonia McIntyre at MLM, said: "It's an honour to join MLM at such an exciting period in the company's journey.

"I hope that my experience to date will somewhat increase the offering we have, particularly to SME's and owner-managed business who have fallen into difficulty."

Ms Leslie said: "It's a mark of our credibility and growing reputation in the industry that we were able to acquire the services of such a well-known and respected figure."

GM for new hotel

THE Chester Hotel in Aberdeen has appointed Chris Quinn-Waugh as general manager as preparations continue for its launch in early 2014.

Ms Quinn-Waugh joins from Edinburgh's Royal Terrace Hotel, and has previously held general manager positions at the Macdonald Inchyra Grange and Houston House hotels. She is recruiting a team of 80 to 100 new staff members for all departments.
