ACCOUNTANCY firm Baker Tilly promoted David Morris to director of its technology services team.

Mr Morris will be responsible for IT services in Scotland and the north of England, with a remit to expand the team to expand the service it offers.

He moves into the role with 27 years experience in IT, internal audits and general business consultancy in a range of sectors.

Mr Morris joined Baker Tilly last year when the firm merged with RSM Tenon.

Steve Snaith, IT Assurance Partner for Baker Tilly said: "David's well-deserved promotion is a credit to his hard work, technical expertise and commitment, and I am sure he will play an important role as we seek to expand our IT services across the North of England and Scotland."

Wilson joins Shepherd in Glasgow

SHEPHERD Chartered Surveyors appointed Hazel Wilson as a commercial surveyor at its Glasgow office.

Ms Wilson, who qualified as a chartered surveyor in 2008, recently worked as a property manager at Edinburgh Airport.

Previously she had been a valuer in both Lanarkshire and Glasgow Assessors offices and has worked as a surveyor with City Property in Glasgow.

In her new role, Ms Wilson is responsible for managing commercial properties and other aspects of commercial property work, including agency and valuation.

She said: "I'm delighted to be working with such a well-known firm as Shepherd and to have the opportunity to play a part in the further expansion of the business throughout Glasgow and the west of Scotland.

"This position offers me a variety of commercial property work, which I'm really excited about."

Steve Barnett, commercial partner for Shepherd in Glasgow, said: "Hazel's appointment will complement and enhance the commercial property management capabilities of the firm."

University appoints entrepreneur

THE University of Dundee has appointed Alasdair McGill to the new role of head of enterprise and entrepreneurial strategy.

Mr McGill has been appointed as part of the institution's transformation strategy, with enterprise and entrepreneurship seen as a key component in delivering its vision to become the Scotland's leading University.

Since qualifying as an accountant with Ernst & Young in Dundee, Mr McGill has spent the past 25 years working as an entrepreneur in industries as diverse as construction, bars and restaurants, technology and professional services.

He is currently a director of GS-Group, and independent insurance broker and financial service provider, and holds a number of non-executive director roles.

Mr McGill said: "I am delighted to have been appointed to this role. I am passionate about entrepreneurship and am looking forward to developing and implementing a strategy for all of our students to be exposed to enterprise and entrepreneurship during their time in Dundee. "

Hogg lands a top new position

SCOTTISH Land & Estates has appointed a new regional manager for central and north east Scotland.

Judith Hogg, who has a family background in arable farming, hill farming and gamekeeping across Perthshire and the Scottish Borders, recently completed a diploma in agriculture at Scotland's Rural University College. Outside work she enjoys equestrian pursuits. She also takes part in stock judging with the Edinburgh Agricultural Society.

Ms Hogg said: "I'm delighted to be joining Scottish Land & Estates and can't wait to start working with members across the central belt and the north-east. The organisation's members are at the forefront of a vibrant rural Scotland and there is a huge amount of positive work that takes place that helps businesses - and the communities in which they are based - to thrive."
