The average UK student graduates with debts of over £20,000, though future graduates could be carrying debt of over £50,000 due to the hike in tuition fees, according to the Push guide. The typical debt run up by Scots studying at Scottish institutions is just over £2000 a year, but that's an average per child, pressure on costs is rising – and many Scots may still study elsewhere.
