'I was paying more for the dog than for my own cover'

Sarah Moore, 40, from Edinburgh, has had dogs since she was a child.

Her current dog, George, is a retired greyhound.

She explains: "Greyhounds retire from racing when they are three to five years old but they live until they are 10 to 15.

"However, they are prone to a number of health issues, such as dental problems due to the high sugar content of their diet when they are working, and corns on their feet from racing too."
