SSE chief warns on fuel bills

Ian Marchant, chief executive of Scottish Hydro Electric owner Scottish & Southern Energy, has warned customers are unlikely to see their fuel bills fall this year.

Marchant yesterday unveiled a 3% increase in pre-tax profit to £1.3 billion for the year to March 31, in line with industry expectations, despite falling demand in the recession.
