A net manufacturer is set for continued growth after landing orders worth £1.5 million last year from Scottish Sea Farms (SSF).

W & J Knox, which employs 120 at Kilbirnie in Ayrshire, had won orders worth £1.7m from SSF in the previous two years.

Jim Traynor, managing director, said the firm had managed steady growth in recent years.

"With all the bad news stories regarding the recession we are delighted to be working with Scottish Sea Farms again in 2013."

The firm will maintain and supply nets for SSF's salmon fish farming cages at sites around Scotland.

Jim Gallagher, SSF's managing director, said: "We have a long-standing relationship with W&J Knox and it is good to know we're supporting independent Scottish businesses."
