T Timothy Ryan has quit the board of Lloyds Banking Group, owner of Bank of Scotland, after taking a post at his former employer JP Morgan Chase.

Mr Ryan will retire from Lloyds's board on April 18 having become a non-executive director in March 2009, just months after its rescue takeover of Edinburgh-based Halifax Bank of Scotland.

He is leaving his post as president and chief executive of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association to become global head of regulatory strategy and policy at JP Morgan Chase.

He left JP Morgan in 2008 having been vice-chairman of financial institutions and governments.

Lloyds chairman Sir Winfried Bischoff said: "His deep banking knowledge has been of great value."
