THE head of Charles River Laboratories in Scotland took the leadership award at the Scottish Enterprise Life Sciences awards last night.

Brian Bathgate was recognised for helping to secure a better pipeline of work including as sole provider of contract research work for AstraZeneca.

Edinburgh-based i2Eye Diagnostics was named best new company with judges impressed by its visual field analysis. DySIS Medical, in Livingston, won the innovation prize for its cervical cancer imaging technology.
