INVERALMOND Brewery received an unexpected boost when actor Alan Cumming photographed himself drinking the beer it has released for Homecoming Scotland 2014.

Mr Cumming took the so-called "selfie"when he was in Perthshire to open the Birks Cinema in November.

The snap was released by the brewery yesterday.

Mr Cumming has form when it comes to the selfie. A photo of him standing in front of a poster for his National Theatre of Scotland production of Macbeth while waiting for a subway train in Glasgow was widely distributed on Twitter.

His one-man version of the Scottish play, which debuted at Glasgow's Tramway in 2012, is to transfer to Broadway in April.

Fergus Clark, managing director of Inveralmond Brewery, said: "We were delighted to hear that Alan enjoyed the Homecoming Scotland 2014 limited edition beer and has given it the taste test.

"Opportunities like Homecoming Scotland 2014 give home grown Scottish companies genuine prominence on an international stage."

The beer is being supplied to on and off trade customers at home and as far afield as Australia and the United States.

Inveralmond employs 18 people, and had turnover of £1.5 million last year.
