LINDSAYS has boosted its family law by appointing Alison McKeen as a partner.

Ms McKee, who is based at the firm's Glasgow office, is accredited by The Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in both Child and Family Law. She is also trained in collaborative law - which she sees as increasingly important in dealing with relationship break-ups.

Ms McKee is a member of the Family Law Association, the Scottish Collaborative Family Law Group, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She has also been a tutor in Family Law on the Diploma Course at Glasgow University.

Alasdair Cummings, managing partner at Lindsays, said: "With more than a decade of specialist experience, Alison has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in all aspects of divorce work, contact and residence disputes and Child Law issues. She is trained in litigation but also has great experience and a passion for collaborative law."

Bank boost for east

BANK of Scotland has strengthened its commercial team with the appointment of Jane Clark-Hutchison as mid markets area director for Edinburgh and the east of Scotland.

The appointment comes as the bank looks to bolster its support to mid-market customers in the region by providing financial expertise, funding and guidance to help drive confidence and growth.

Mark Prentice, its current area director for the area, Mark Prentice, has taken on responsibility for a number of the larger clients in the area.

Ms Clark-Hutchison joined the bank in 1992 and has led a number of teams in client-facing roles across corporate relationship management and leveraged finance. Most recently she was senior director in the Commercial Banking Scotland business where she worked to demonstrate the bank's support and investment in the Scottish and UK economy.

Ms Clark-Hutchison said: "As the Scottish economy shows signs of growth, and confidence amongst the country's firms continues to climb, it's vital that we as a bank are on hand to provide the right financial support needed to allow these businesses to capitalise on the opportunities that this renewed optimism brings."

Six hires for IP firm

MARKS & Clerk, the intellectual property firm, has hired six new patent and trade mark professionals who will work across its three Scottish offices.

The recruits join the 29 other patent and trade mark attorneys and trainee attorneys already working for the firm in Scotland.

George Georgellis has joined Marks & Clerk in Aberdeen office after working for many years with clients on patent matters. His career has included roles such as in-house positions in two major oil and gas corporations, where he served as the lead counsel for patent due diligence for major licensing and deals, joint venture, as well as mergers and acquisitions.

Stephanie Glassford and Clara Orofino have joined the firm's Glasgow office, specialising in life sciences (biotech and pharmaceutical) patents. Alexander Enoch has also joined the Glasgow office, assisting on patent matters in the fields of mechanics and electronics, specialising in robotics and mechatronics.

In Edinburgh, Gavin Cullen has taken up a position assisting on mechanics and electronics matters, while Jamie Sala-Scott has joined the active trade mark team.

Core takes Aim

CORE-Asset Consulting, the independent recruitment company, has hired Fiona Aim in the newly-created post of company accountant.

Ms Aim, who joins the company today, will be responsible for providing financial direction, as well as leading the creation of a finance team.

She was previously finance business partner at Virgin Money in Edinburgh.

Reporting directly to managing director Betsy Williamson, Ms Aim will work with the senior management team on projects geared towards imbedding systems, improving financial controls and providing robust management information.

Fiona's appointment brings to 20 the total number of employees at Core-Asset Consulting, an increase of 75% in less than 12 months.

Ms Williamson said: "Fiona is exactly the type of person who will succeed within a business like Core-Asset Consulting. She is professional, highly skilled, enthusiastic and creative. I've no doubt she'll be an excellent addition to our senior management team and the business as a whole."
