Kerr joins law firm Simpson & Marwick

SIMPSON & Marwick has added to its specialist family law team by hiring Nicola Kerr, pictured, as a senior solicitor.

Ms Kerr, who will be based in the firm's Edinburgh office, will assist the team in representing clients across its offices in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee, as well as the Scottish capital.

Partner Richard Smith, who heads the Edinburgh division, said Ms Kerr would enhance the team's ability in all areas of family law.

Ms Kerr said: "I am delighted to be joining one of the most successful and highly respected family law teams in Scotland and look forward to helping the members of the team build on their success to date."

Child law expert Rae becomes associate

THORLEY Stephenson, the Edinburgh-based law firm, has promoted Lisa Rae, pictured, to associate and head of its child law department.

Ms Rae joined the Edinburgh-based law firm as a trainee in 2008, before qualifying as a solicitor in 2010 and going to work as an assistant in its child law division.

Ms Rae handles permanence and adoption cases, and cases involving children and families going through the Children's Hearing system.

She is a member of the firm's practice management board and plans to apply to become an accredited specialist in child law when eligible in 2016.

The promotion comes after Ms Rae was a finalist in the up and coming lawyer of the year category at last year's Law Awards of Scotland.

Thorntons appoints immigration lawyer

SPECIALIST immigration lawyer Jamie Kerr, pictured, has joined law firm Thorntons as a partner.

Mr Kerr is one of only three accredited specialists working in this field in Scotland.

He advises on all aspects of immigration, asylum, nationality and human rights law, and represents individuals, businesses, charities and community groups at home and abroad.

Mr Kerr said: "My area of expertise is a new and valuable addition to the service that Thorntons can provide to clients. The firm has an excellent reputation across Scotland and I look forward to sharing my specialist knowledge and skills to further enhance the offering to clients."

Todd on target for Clydeside move

BAUER Media Scotland has appointed Jill Todd, pictured, as its new sales director for its Clyde 1 and Clyde 2 local radio stations.

Ms Todd, who joins from STV, has been tasked with driving commercial revenues and opportunities for the stations in Glasgow and across the west of Scotland.

Her career includes spells as account manager with GCAP and Emap, and as key account manager at GMG Radio, in addition to her recent business development role at STV.

Ms Todd's appointment comes after the media company hired Colin Reid as its new regional marketing manager for Bauer Media Scotland.

She said: "My heart has always belonged to radio so I am really delighted to be joining the team at Radio Clyde as sales director. Bauer Media Scotland has given me a fantastic opportunity."
