HARRY Morgan, one of Edinburgh's best-known private client managers, is to join Anderson Strathern Asset Management as chief investment officer.
Mr Morgan, who was elected to the board of the Association of Investment Companies in January, has been head of private investment management at Thomas Miller Investments in Edinburgh for the past two years.
Prior to that he had similar roles at Adam &Company and Newton, having made his name at Edinburgh Fund Managers as head of private clients.
Mr Morgan said he would leave Thomas Miller in August and they would "still be friends", but he couldn't resist the opportunity. "I have never been a chief investment officer and I thought I would really like to do that. We have done well at Thomas Miller, the business is well set up, we are taking in new clients, and my deputy, Andrew Herbert, will be taking over."
Anderson Strathern is thought to have some £300 million under management.
Alec Stewart, chief executive, said Mr Morgan was "recognised and highly regarded as a thought-leader in the Edinburgh financial community" having managed portfolios for private clients, trusts and charities for 29 years.
"This signals our intention to significantly grow the investment and asset management business."
He said since September 2011, the boutique had consistently beaten its target of 11 per cent annual growth in funds under management and revenue.
On Mr Morgan's appointment to its board the AIC said he was a "seasoned investor" in the trust sector.
