THE business group set up to help Scotland meet its carbon reduction targets by the end of the decade has marked 2020 days to go until 2020 by launching a new brand identity.

Scotland's 2020 Climate Group is chaired by former SSE chief executive Ian Marchant and also includes Lady Susan Rice and Peter Lederer.

The organisation said it would be updating its website and online resources in the near future.

Its new logo is said to symbolise collaboration, efficiency, a circular economy and nearing a target.

The aim of the group is to help meet a target of a 42 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions by 2020.

Earlier this month it was confirmed Scotland had failed to meet its target for carbon emissions in 2012.

However there has been a 30 per cent decline since 1990 and Scotland is ahead of the rest of the UK.

Mr Marchant said: "We need to ensure that we are not complacent."
