PETROPLAN, the oil and gas recruitment specialist, has announced plans to open an office in Glasgow, writes Scott Wright.

The company said the operation will look to capitalise on the energy sector expertise in the central belt, in locations such as Grangemouth.

The West George Street office will initially be staffed by three recruitment consultants, led by regional director Kenny Dooley. It will be the company's fourth office in the UK, adding to its bases in Aberdeen, London and Guildford.

Mr Dooley said: "A key factor in establishing a base in Glasgow was the opportunity to engage with the city's experienced workforce. People don't typically tend to associate Glasgow with oil and gas. However, with a significant number of service companies, fabrication companies and machine shops being situated along the central belt of Scotland, this move gives Petroplan a stronger local presence."
