John Menzies is looking for its first group chief executive in seven years.
The aviation ground handling and media distribution company confirmed it was reviewing its senior management structure and was searching for a candidate to take on the role.
The Edinburgh group has been operating with a finance director and the managing director of each operating division sharing overall responsibility since 2007.
The company also said its aviation managing director Craig Smyth has handed in his resignation but will remain in place to fulfil his contractual obligations.
