John Menzies expects continuing upheaval at Heathrow Airport to hit earnings in the rest of the year in its aviation division, after reporting a £2.2million hit to profits in the first half from the strength of sterling.

The Edinburgh-based logistics group saw shares slip by more than three per cent despite saying underlying profits were up seven per cent and the dividend would rise by five per cent. Menzies said its growth was on track but it faced "short-term operational challenges in the UK" largely at Heathrow, its biggest operating station.
