CITY of Edinburgh councillors have voted to approve a controversial £90m development on the landmark Craighouse site in the west of the city yesterday.

The scheme proposed by a group that includes property companies and Napier University will involve building six new blocks on a site which houses seven listed historic buildings and includes extensive parkland.

The plans were opposed by many locals, including entrepreneur Joe Frankel who built up the Vegware compostable cutlery operation and Andrew Richards, the founder of Codeplay software.
