AN Edinburgh company has created a digital atlas of the human body using holograph technology which it says could help doctors gain a better understanding of anatomical structures. The human anatomy atlas developed by Holoxica features detailed 3D holographic images of parts of the inner body. The company developed the atlas with Gordon Findlater, professor of translation anatomy at the University of Edinburgh. The company hopes the atlas will be used by universities around the world as a teaching aid for first and second year medical and anatomy students. Chief executive Javid Khan said: "Medical students have often struggled with a deeper understanding of the relative positioning of complex anatomical structures, for example, the location of a vein in front of a nerve, which might be located behind a tendon."
