Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 17 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 247p per kg and an average of 231.3p (no change on the week), while 9 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 228p and levelled at 205.1p (+3.1p). Nine prime, B&W bullocks sold to 175.5p and averaged 158.5p (+8.5p).

In the rough ring 26 beef cows averaged 132p (+6p) and 40 dairy cows levelled at 110p (+2p).

The firm also sold 1758 prime hoggs to a top of £116.50 per head and 247.9p per kg to average 180.9p (+9.1p).

The cast sheep forward saw 223 heavy ewes sell to £136.50 for a Texel and average £81.55, while 129 light ewes peaked at £82.50 for a Blackface and levelled at £50.22.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd had a small show of 7 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday that sold to a top of £1506.25 per head and 250p per kg to average £1305.99 and 231.7p.

In the rough ring 39 beef cows sold to £1240 and 180.9p to average 138.7p, while 94 dairy cows peaked at £1200 and 136.9p to level at 109.6p. Six bulls sold to £1560 and 197.3p to average 137p, while 21 clean, OTM cattle peaked at £1430 and 201.4p to level at 154.7p.

There were only 9 dairy cattle forward that sold to a top of £1750 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1198.75.
