Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 14 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 263p per kg and an average of 250.2p (-4.1p on the week), while 7 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 258p and levelled at 215.5p (+3.6p). Eleven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 163p and averaged 152.3p (+0.2p).

In the rough ring 63 beef cows averaged 136p (+6p) and 48 dairy cows levelled at 112p (+3p).

The firm also sold 2106 prime lambs to a top of £98.50 per head and 229.1p per kg to average 176.3p (+1.2p).

A large show of 498 heavy cast ewes averaged £70.62, while 273 light ewes levelled at £38.22.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 7 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 239p and an average of 213.2p, while 7 prime bullocks peaked 236p and levelled at 205.1p.

In the rough ring 74 beef cows averaged 129.7p and 137 dairy cattle levelled at 112.8p. Twelve clean, mostly dairy-bred OTM cattle averaged 147.3p.

The firm also sold 3 pedigree Holstein Friesians to a top of 1900gns for a heifer and an average of £1435, while 11 commercial dairy cattle peaked at £1620 for a HF heifer and levelled at £1431.82.
