UK oil and gas extraction rose 2.7 per cent month-on-month in September, the latest official figures show.
The figures, from the Office for National Statistics, also reveal UK manufacturing output rose by a better-than-expected 0.7 per cent in September.
But construction output tumbled by 1.6 per cent in September – a steeper drop than forecast – separate ONS figures show.
Official figures last month estimated overall third-quarter UK growth at 0.4 per cent.
