Penguin patter

IT doesn’t take much to make The Bottom Line laugh. Our recent research into Vets Now for a business story revealed that the company’s auditor could scarcely have a more apposite location.

Accounts for Vets Now at Companies House confirm that the business address of Johnston Carmichael is none other than Penguin House in Dunfermline.

It is unclear whether

this detail had any influence when the vet company was selecting which firm to audit the accounts.

Something fishy

IT sounds like our kind of night out and, to be brutally frank, we are quite disappointed not to have been invited.

Scotland’s finest fish was celebrated this week at the ‘Spirit of Seafood’ evening hosted by Seafood Scotland at Edinburgh venue Fireside at The Arches. It saw industry figures, journalists, bloggers and chefs sample some of the best of Scottish seafood with spirits supplied by Arbikie, the Angus-based whisky, gin and vodka distillery.

Clare MacDougall, trade marketing manager at Seafood Scotland said:

“As part of our ongoing mission to inspire and engage the trade, chefs and culinary stars of tomorrow, we aim to demonstrate the sheer versatility of Scotland’s seafood.”

Going Dutch

WHISKY is not usually top of the list when one thinks of mind-bending substances commonly associated with The Netherlands. But a brand-new product will be looking to change all that.

The latest release from the Fusion Whisky and Adelphi partnership, unveiled this week, is a combination of Scotch and Dutch whisky.

Joining a collection which includes blends of Scotch with Japanese

and Indian whisky,

The Winter Queen celebrates the legacy of Elizabeth Stuart, eldest daughter of James VI of Scotland and Queen Anne of Denmark.

The Scottish princess, according to the whisky creators, is the “forgotten link between the Stuart and Hanoverian thrones”, having spent a lifetime in exile in The Hague.

Now that is something to ponder over a dram.
