New managing partner for MacRoberts
MacRoberts has announced that corporate partner Neil Kennedy will succeed John Macmillan as managing partner from May 1.
The Aberdeen University graduate has been with MacRoberts for 19 years and a partner for ten of those. He works in corporate and commercial law and is a lead adviser to a number of well-known businesses.
John Macmillan steps down from the role after his second term as managing partner and will continue as an employment partner for the firm.
Mr Kennedy said: “We have achieved great success under John Macmillan’s expert watch and we will continue to achieve this through investment, underpinned by exceptional talent and service.”
Mr Macmillan said Mr Kennedy would be a “very fine successor”.
“The firm will be in very good hands and I was delighted by the strength of the partner support for his appointment,” he added.
Private client focus at law firm
LEGAL firm Anderson Strathern has appointed private client lawyer Sarah McKinlay as a consultant from the former HBJ Gateley, now Addleshaw Goddard.
She arrives with more than 20 years of expertise in the sector, with a particular focus on high net worth clients.
She also specialises in succession planning and working with business owners and their families, complementing the firm’s top level private client offering in these areas.
Ms McKinlay’s appointment follows several hires into the firm’s private client team, including David Campbell from Balfour & Manson and Anne Henderson from DWF (formerly Biggart Baillie), and coincides with the recent announcement of dual-qualified partner Carole Tomlinson as the first woman to head Anderson Strathern’s private client team.
Last month Anderson Strathern announced a 2.5% increase in turnover to £21.5 million for the year to August.
Chivas Brothers thinking sustainability
Whisky producer Chivas Brothers has appointed Sandrine Ricard to the role of head of sustainability and responsibility, a newly created position which the group said reinforced its commitment to what it called a strategic priority.
Ms Ricard will be responsible for driving forward sustainability and responsibility activities throughout the UK and beyond, via the company’s portfolio of global brands.
She will lead the business’s commitment to supporting and developing its local communities, brought to life through initiatives such as Responsib’ALL Day, a company wide day of volunteering, and Chivas Spirit of Support, a series of local charitable initiatives.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
