Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 226 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1230 per head and 242.9p per kg to average £841.57 and 215.6p (-7.8p on the fortnight), while 423 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1290 and 277.2p to level at £838.90 and 227.4p (-6.3p). Fifty-nine store, dairy-bred bullocks sold to £860 and 197.7p to average £616.36 and 155.3p (-5p).
C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 3243 prime hoggs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £160 per head and 362p per hg to average 241p (-17.2p on the week), while 94 prime lambs peaked at £137 and 310p to level at 267.5p (+4.5p).
The firm also had 2845 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £174 for Texels and averaged £93.38 (-£5.84), while light/export-type ewes peaked at £84 for Lleyns and levelled at £56.17 (+£1.10). Rams sold to £130 for a Texel and averaged £89.99.
