LAWRIE & Symington Ltd sold 21 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 255p per kg and an average of 238.4p (-4.1p on the week), while 10 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 248p and levelled at 223.7p (-5.2p). Six prime, B&W bullocks sold to 145.5p and averaged 140.1p (-5.5p).
There were also 1313 prime hoggs that sold to £139.50 per head and 283p per kg to average 222.8p (-14.2p), while 129 prime lambs peaked at £158.50 and 345.5p to level at 272.3p (-23.7p).
The 205 cast ewes forward sold to £139.50 for a Texel and averaged £92.44, while 324 light/export-type ewes peaked at £98 for a Blackface and levelled at £60.06.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 11 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 254p and an average of 233.6p, while six prime bullocks peaked at 262p and levelled at 253.5p.
In the rough ring 48 beef cows averaged 144.3p and 48 dairy cows levelled at 121.4p. Eight bulls averaged 155.7p and 11 clean OTM cattle levelled at 153.2p.
The firm also had 11 dairy cattle forward that sold to a top of £1,750 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1,189.
