ROBERTSON Group has declared it lifted turnover by in excess of 25 per cent as it worked on a string of high-profile construction contracts in the year to the end of March.

The Elgin-based infrastructure group did not disclose specific figures. But, based on its latest available accounts at Companies House, Robertson’s turnover should exceed £700 million for the period.

The company, which is expected to publish its full accounts later this summer, made a pre-tax profit of £26.1m on turnover of £572.1m in the year ended March 31, 2017.

Headed by business veteran Bill Robertson, the group said it has successfully transitioned from work on PFI (private finance initiative) work to major construction projects, investment and facilities management. It recently completed work on the £140m distillery and visitor centre for single malt whisy The Macallan, owned by Edrington, and is the main contractor on the £330m Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre project, the largest in its 52-year history.

It is is currently working on more than 230 infrastructure contracts, spanning schools and universities, roads, bridges and retail outlets.

Mr Robertson said: “We have worked hard at making sure the business has a strong market presence with a client and defined sector focus.”
