THE first event dedicated to intrapreneurship in Scotland will take place in Glasgow later this month.

The Intrapreneurial Conference, hosted by The Herald in partnership with CivTech Scotland, will set out to raise awareness of intrapreneurship, as well as showcase organisations, companies, workplaces and individuals which are leading the way in this area.

Delegates will hear from high-profile speakers, including the head of CivTech Scotland, Alexander Holt, who will be part of the leadership panel. The event takes place at 200 SVS on Tuesday August 28, with sponsors including The Lens and Scottish Health Innovations Ltd (SHIL). There will also be speakers from Entrepreneurial Scotland and CHAS.

Mr Holt said: “Intrapreneurial leaders spot opportunities within their organisation to create value for end users, customers, or indeed citizens. But in order for that to happen, they need to create the culture and processes that allow others to do this and thrive. Intrapreneurship is not a single event, it is a long-term change driven by this value-creating mindset. We believe Scotland can lead the world in developing this mindset within organisations large and small.”

Delegates at the event will be able to attend pod sessions, which will feature discussions which focus on key aspects of intrapreneurship.

Graham Watson, executive chairman of SHIL, said: “At the Intrapreneurial Conference we are delighted to showcase the advice and support available at SHIL to support all health professionals on their intrapreneurial journey. Our inventors will also offer insight into their unique experiences – from an A&E nurse preparing to launch a new product, a spin out company achieving global interest in their innovative surgical products and an air paramedic committed to continuous improvement.”
