Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 115 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1225 per head and 235p per kg to average £861.83 and 204.2p (+4.6p on the fortnight), while 199 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1315 and 231p to level at £842.28 and 208.7p (+7.4p). Twelve store, B&W bullocks sold to £790 and 153.4p to average £597.95 and 130.6p (+2.3p).
C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 3503 prime lambs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £114 per head and 247p per kg to average 197.2p (+13.2p on the week).
A very large entry of 9025 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £162 for Texels and average £78.52 (-£1.35), while light/export-type ewes peaked at £80 for Cheviots and levelled at £35.46 (-£2.72). Rams sold to £154 for a Suffolk and averaged £78.99.
