A FUND run by InfraRed Capital Partners has paid £78m for a wind farm that is soon to be built in East Ayrshire.

Afton Wind Farm, which was developed by E.ON Climate & Renewables, will be a 25 turbine, 50MW onshore wind farm located on land adjacent to Afton Reservoir near New Cumnock.

It has been sold by E.ON with full planning consent and construction is expected to begin before the end of this year.

The turbines will be supplied and maintained by Spanish company Gamesa while Livingston business Farrans Construction is the electrical contractor and Neas Energy is handling the power purchase agreement.
